Jyoty Marg Education and Charitable trust, Odisha is happy present the report and evaluation of the Covid-19 Relief intervention programs for the months June and July. It was a great chance for the Trust to be with the poor and needy tribal people and widows of Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Koraput districts of Odisha. We executed this programme in three districts with the help of three Social Action Centres of the Trust, such as Nirmal Jyoty Social action Centre, Baliguda, Kandhamal, Sacred Heart Centre, Laxmipur, Koraput, Little Flower Mission, Kundra, Koraput.

Situation of Pandemic in Odisha: As per the government report TPR has come down to below 4%. But from the ground report, which we got from the animators and filed workers of the Trust, many of the interior villages of the state are affected with the pandemic. Lack of accessibility and medical facilities make it unknown to the public. Through this project we could address a few of them through the awareness, medical aids and food and nutrition suplies.

Project implementation and response of the people: The project was implemented in five civil blocks of Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Koraput districts of Odisha. The beneficiary groups were selected with the help of government officials like BDO, Surpanch and village members. The target groups were selected on the basis of economic situation, life status, places where government could not reach due to lack of accessibility, presence of Maoists, etc.  We could reach around 22 villages with 1076 families and another two villages with 106 widows.

Our presence with Covid-19 relief brought smile to the people and we know that it may not be lasting but at least for few weeks they can survive. They were all taken up by the work of charity and showed their love and care through offering our animators with their little earnings like fruits, vegetables, etc. The number of people gathered for the awareness programs also shows their interest in learning about the pandemic and earnestness to fight against it.

The response from the villagers, animators of our Centres and the government officials were positive and we could assess that we have reached out to the neediest people of the time in these areas of our work. The assessment make us more confidant and passionate to reach out to more villages with the helping hand.

Difficulties and challenges: The first challenge was to reach out to these villages because many of the villages were deep inside the forest and transportation facilities were not available. We had to walk kilometres to reach the villages. The monsoon also made our programs more challenging and difficult. Religious fanatics are always a big challenge for us in Odisha. Our programs were interrupted by the presence of these people and we could not do it in two or three villages. We had taken all the permission and precautions; still we had to face it. These challenges and difficulties helped us to be more passionate to the poor and needy and the staff members were more interested and ready to reach out to more needy people.

As we summarise the one month Covid-19 Relief project we can happily say that we have successfully completed it and we could reach out to the maximum with the love and care. The continued help may help them to survive through the difficulties of this pandemic and we are trying for it.

We do express our gratitude for the great support that you have been giving us during this difficult time and thank you for selecting our Trust to collaborate with you to implement the Covid-19 Relief work in Odisha. Expecting your collaboration and support in the Future we submit the working report and evaluation of the project for the month of June and July
